Pixel Video Camer

i wanna buy a digital camera that is under 300 dollar and i need sugestions?

I don’t care about the brand as long as it is reliable.
here is kinda the criteria:
-Flash (of course)
-nice sized LCD screen
-zoom optical or digital (or a combo. of both)
-red eye reducer (not necesary but nice)
-1.5& up mega pixels
-a video recorder option (would be super)
-different settings (as in like sports, nightime, florestent light, cloudy, and sunny pics)

I don’t care about the brand as long as it is reliable.

if you want reliable go SONY.

flash:
every camera has flash, Ive never seen a flashless camera.

LCD screen:
is there a big difference between a 2.4″ and a 2.5″ and a 2.7″ screen? there isnt to me, im a fan a view finders half the time anyway.

zoom:
ok, you probably dont care what I think, but why? Why would you have digital zoom? Do you not know how to crop photos using any of a million photo editing programs? Optical zoom makes everything actually larger, its when the lens manipulates the camera into actually seeing the image larger, digital zoom is pointless. You cant see it any better, its bigger but the resolution improves 0. Anyway incase you didnt know digital zoom is nothing more than cropping.

red eye:
most have it, but it doesn’t always work great. My Nikon coolpix has red eye reduction but it doesnt always work, but I guess that’s what I get for getting a Nikon.

1.5+ MP:
yah, if the camera was made after 2004 area it has that. My cell phone has a 2MP camera, not great for everything but it can take a picture. If you have above 5MP that would be fine for most things, 3MP just might not cut it.

video recorder:
most have it, its hard to find some without it.

different settings:
most have it again. Now its more of a question of how advanced is the technology that controls the settings.

water sleeves???
i cant help you there, sorry. But cameras come with a little thing called a wrist dtrap that gos around you wrist so if you do happen to drop the camera it will not leave more than a few inches. I put it on ALL the time.

Now I will give you and example of a camera and tell you how it relates to your criterias.

The SONY Cyber-Shot DSC-W170:
flash: yes
LCD screen: bright 2.7″ LCD screen with anti reflective coating for amazing visibility, even in harsh sunlight (viewfinder also standard). If you want to save battery you can turn off the LCD screen and use only view finder.
zoom: 5x optical zoom, 2x digital zoom, few cameras as skinny as the W170 can compete with that. its digital zoom is slowly being renamed/replaced with smart zoom (smart zoom not available during finest resolution mode on this model), but with 5x optical zoom who needs it? AND you can crop photos right inside your camera, no need for a computer to do all that (software included anyway).
Red eye reduction: YES, its the best. even if you take the shot in a mode that disables red eye and you forget to enable it, you can correct it later inside the camera, not need for a computer to do all that.
mega pixels:

ahh. . .

10.1 megapixel resolution! The cyber shot DSC W170 is amazing! But the DSC W300 has 13.6MP!!! so yah, its up to you. Is the 3 or 4 mega pixels worth an extra 50 or 100 dollars?

yah, you can take a picture of a penny. . .on the moon, and then blow it up to a 5×7. . .mile picture and see it fine (that was a bit more dramatic than reality) but you can for sure get sweet shpts for your myspace or photo album or whatever you plan to use it for.

video recorder: yes
shoots MPEG files up to 30 frames/sec.

“settings”: Beach, High Sensitivity, Landscape, Snow, Soft Snap, Twilight, Twilight Portrait, Fireworks, Smile Shutter, and Underwater. Also has a new intelligent scene recognition (in advanced mode and auto for even more personal control over the camera). its basically the best ever!
smile shutter? whats that?
yah, the camera knows when people smile and will automatically take a picture when it happens. It also has face recognition (duh) and maybe even baby mode for all I know (might recognize infants)

it has an underwater mode? I bet it has a cover for it to go underwater. Could you imagine accually taking pictures under water? Also you know what you can get? I light for under water. Yah, its a light designed for taking footage underwater in low light conditions. But it is rather expensive.

Memory sticks:
Ok, for SONY products they will be a little more expensive. That is the down fall of getting a SONY product is paying way to much for the memory cards. The kind of memory sick you need for this camera is one) a ‘memory stick duo’ or two) a memory stick PRO duo. More expensive then the standard scandisk cards for most cameras. That is the one and only flaw to this camera (except maybe if you really want a water sleeve you might not like the one SONY has to offer). The cards are great, just usually more expensive. The difference in spending 12 bucks for a card and 40 bucks for a card. I hate that about SONY more than anything else.

But its still a great buy, yu get so much and the price isn’t too bad.
